Why It Matters

The Foundation of a Good Finish

A flawless skim starts with flawless boardwork. If the boards aren't flat, square and well-fixed, no amount of skimming hides it — so we get the substrate right first.

Building a new room, splitting a space or adding insulation? We'll frame, board and finish it all, ready for decorating.

Dry Lining & Studwork FAQs

Can you build a new partition wall?
Yes — we build metal or timber stud partitions, board both sides and skim or tape & joint them, including framing out doorways. A new internal wall is often a one-to-two day job.
Do you do insulated dry lining?
Yes — we fix insulated plasterboard (thermal laminate) or build an insulated batten/stud system to warm up cold external walls and cut condensation, then skim to a smooth finish.
Should it be skimmed or tape & jointed?
Both give a paint-ready finish. A full skim gives the flattest, most seamless result — best where light rakes across a wall; tape & joint is quicker and fine for most rooms. We'll recommend based on the room.
Can you soundproof a wall or ceiling?
Yes — we use acoustic board, resilient bars and insulation to cut noise between rooms or floors, then board and skim over it. Ideal for terraces, flats and home offices.
Can you replace an old lath-and-plaster wall or ceiling?
Yes — where old lath and plaster is cracked or sagging we strip it out and re-board with modern plasterboard for a stronger, flatter, crack-free finish, or overboard straight over sound lath to save mess.
