How long does fresh plaster take to dry before painting?
Typically 5–7 days for a skim, longer for thicker work or in cold/damp conditions. We'll advise on your specific job and recommend a mist coat before your topcoats.
Should I just re-skim or get the whole wall replastered?
If the existing plaster is sound, a re-skim gives a perfect finish for less. Where plaster is blown, hollow or damp-damaged, we'll recommend hacking off and replastering. We'll always give you the honest option at the quote.
What's the difference between the rendering options?
Traditional sand & cement is hard-wearing and cost-effective; modern silicone/K-Rend systems are flexible, breathable, self-coloured and low-maintenance. We'll match the right system to your property.
Do you clear up after the work?
Always. Dust sheets go down, we keep mess controlled as we go, and we leave the space clean and tidy — that's part of the job, not an extra.
Can you plaster over Artex or a damaged ceiling?
Yes — we can skim over sound Artex or overboard and skim where needed for a smooth, modern ceiling. We'll assess and recommend the best route.
Can plastering help with a damp or cold wall?
Where damp is the cause, we treat it properly with damp-proof membranes/tanking before replastering — plastering over damp without treating it just hides the problem.
